any one else have any suggestions, from my tests does it appear that there is any way theres a driver or windows or any kind of software issue that can be causing this? rich told me it doesn't mater when he gave me the sticks, but the ram that came with the computer is ddr and the new ram is ddr sdram, could that have any effect?

It's failing a stability test without Windows being loaded and without touching the hard drive. It's a hardware problem. It sounds like a motherboard problem right now.

They're the same thing.

well looks like ill just have to get by with 512MB of ram till i can afford my first self built computer.
