The DDR 400 PC3200 2GB from Crucial is $120 per stick!!! Corsair TwinX 2GB is for $178. Naturally I am gonna go with Corsair. Why do I want so much memory?? I use AutoCad everyday, do drawing for a living. before I upgraded from a measly 256mb RAM my pc would lag so badly using Autocad along with other apps running at the same time. Now that I have !GB things run smoother. But I got a new version of CAD and now I am back to square one, it's plain laggy again. Was told that the memory needs to be expanded further to speed things up.
2gb memory would do wonders for autocad. The way things are going, games like BF:2, FEAR, GRAW, ect, then add in Windows Vista down the road and it makes me wonder why any enthusiast WOULD NOT want 2GB.
Yep the memory upgrade was basically for performance gain when using Autocad, WMP 11 and other resource sapping apps and of course switching to Vista when the time comes.

Hey fellas, I can't remember which slots is memory bank 1 and 2. I have 2 - 512 sticks ocuppying the first 2 slots on the left, that would be the black and blue one. The last slot on the right is empty, I plan to stuff the empty slot with Corsair 1GB stick in there. Question I am asking is if that is still dual channel setup, I lost my mobo manual so that is why I am asking. If I need to swith the sticks around to run dual channel please advise me as to where to place them in dual channel setup. Thanks.

Django.... create a sig with your system specs. We'll be able to tell you once we look at your sig and see what you are working with.
If I remember correctly, you can use slots 1&3 (black and blue) or 2&3 (blue and blue). A good way to tell is to install the memory and check the POST screen, where it should tell you if its dual or single channel

Yup, for dual-channel, you need to use one of the combos:

1+3
2+3
1,2+3

That last combo (1,2,+3) is a nifty feature of the nForce2 chipset, where you can fill all three slots and still run dual-channel, so long as the memory banks are equal. For example, 512MB sticks in both slots 1+2, and then a 1GB stick in slot 3, which would give 2GB total in dual-channel operation.

Also, in addition to POST, you can download and run CPU-Z to see if you're currently in single or dual-channel mode.
