I wouldn't worry about DDR3 that much Bailey. I think it will take AT LEAST a year for DDR3 to become mainstream and a viable alternative to DDR2.

Agreed. It isn't ready yet. When it does become mainstream, it will be around for a while though - you wait and see. Joker, you better get ready for an upgrade

I'm counting on AMD beating out Intel in the next CPU battle. I miss AMD - I'll always love it more than Intel, but at the end of the day, performance takes it. Guess we'll have to wait and see!

I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal.

Good luck with that. Assuming AMD's Barcelona packs enough oomph to compel users away from Penryn (Intel's Core 2 refresh), they'll soon afterwards have to contend with Nehalem, which brings Intel into the integrated memory controller arena. Unfortunately for AMD, Intel isn't stubbornly sticking with a dated architecture, a la the Netburst/P4 days, and this is a much more offensively aggressive Intel than they've had to battle against for quite some time.

I'll be skipping DDR3 (maybe), as I just got my new comp.

Oooo grab another 1GB of RAM man...you'll need at least that much. SOOOOO cheap now!!!

BTW if you want a cool design with red and yellow for a sig, lemme know, I'm open to all requests!!!

Now, on topic - I'm most likely gonna be going to DDR2 with quad (or octa) core.

Ain't that the truth! And even worse for AMD, they have no where near their financial flexibility of a couple years ago. Intel will be on top for some time to come I think. I just don't see or hear anything from the AMD circles that gets my sack crinkled.
