Yep, that is definitely a consideration. Personally, I think having large heatsinks like that (the OCZ Reaper comes to mind) is a bit gimmicky a bit too over the top. Wire management duties/placement could be impacted with RAM heatsinks that large. Something to think about anyway.

hmmm, that's a good question. i suppose the simple answer is that i have the burning desire to upgrade my components. i enjoy o/c and when i originally purchased the ddr2-800, it was not my first choice. now that ddr2 prices have fallen even more, my goal of having ddr2-1066 memory is even more affordable than before and i hope to reach new o/c levels.
