| Well, I know for a fact that the Crucial Ballistix PC2-8500 kit that was originally linked (second RAM listed) uses Micron's famed D9 IC's which are awesome if you are planning to overclock your system. |

| when i built my first rig, i used corsair 5400ul and i loved them but i always wanted the get a pair of tracers. but that's the reason i made this thread, i really can't decide between the two. i currently own the 6400c4 corsair sticks and they work great but i want to match my cpu and ram speeds. i guess you could say i'm digging for a reason to upgrade. i was just about to jump to the crucial camp until i read an article in cpu magazine basically bad mouthing crucial and praising corsair. that put me back on the fence. but anyways, i believe i'll be very happy either way and thanks for all your suggestions so far. here is a paragraph from that article: "In the most recent example of such an attempt, we tried going with Crucial Ballistix memory, and almost every freaking chip we sold ended up being returned, sometimes more than once. It was a total disaster, and the only conclusion we could reach was that the memory was unable to handle the high voltage it was designed for. Props to Crucial for honoring its warranty, but the cost Voodoo incurred was insane and unacceptable, and Crucial's attempts to convince us that we were the only ones experiencing such problems ended up pushing us to switch back to Corsair. We haven't looked back yet." - Rahul Sood (Voodoo Computers) on his experience with switching from Corsair to Crucial Memory in their computers (CPU Magazine Aug 07) |

| I have the Dominators, they overclock with EASE and are very cool in operation. With the speeds being identical I would save the case and go Corsair. | Yowza.... I don't think I could manage putting down that much for 2GB of memory... I think I'll stick with OCZ Gold man. :) - Core 2 Quad Q6600 - DFI Infinity 975X - 4GB Corsair XMS2 w/ DHX DDR2-800 - 500GB WD 7200.10 Caviar GP + 250GB Seagate 7200.9RPM + 160GB Hitachi 5400.4RPM - ATi Radeon X1900XT 256MB - Cooler Master Centurion 5 + OCZ StealthXStream 600W - Acer 19" P191W Monitor - Logitech Z-5500 Digital + Logitech MX Revolution - Vista Ultimate x64 |

| I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal. | Quote:
About Us So in 1996, Micron responded to a growing demand for high-quality memory upgrades among end users who wanted the best possible performance from their systems. Micron launched Crucial Technology in September of that year, and for the first time, end users had the opportunity to buy directly from the manufacturer the same memory modules bought by the world's major OEMs for original installation in their systems.Reallistically, it's not got going to matter which kit you go with, they're both solid performers at roughly equivalent price points. As far as testing goes, we've just had consistently better showings from Crucial. | |

| Frankly, it doesn't matter which you go with. Since you've a case with no side window, the tracers won't be able to show themselves off most of the time, but the Dominator's tall heatsink could pose an issue. ...BUT WAIT! Why are you upgrading in the first place? Your sig says you already have 4GB of DDR2-800 RAM.
