| I would go with the fastest your board can support. Be it 1066 or 1200. ![]() |

| I can tell you from experience that 2 x 2gb is the better all around choice. I am only going to say this one time and I will get to my point, it's really your decision if you buy DDR2 or 3 but I'm using a hybrid board that supports DDR2 and DDR3, it cost a mere 150.00 months ago: go for DDR3, when nehalem(socket 1366) comes out in a few months, the enthusiast level motherboards have 6 memory slots and can run in TRIPLE channel. 2GB modules are the way to go because the more memory modules you have in the board, the more strain on the memory controller which might limit OCing ect. Think ahead, right now Crysis takes 4GB of memory to run smoothly on high. | Linuxlubber | Sadly I built this thing about 6 months ago. At the time I saw no need for 2 GB but then realized BF2 and Vista don't play nice with 2 GB. I was forced to buy another two sticks and therefore run 4 x 1 GB. I haven't really had issues with OC'ing but I think if I had 2 x 2 GB I could go a tad higher. Of course I'm happy with what I have; I have OC'd quite a bit and my benchmarks are above average in my configuration. In another 6 months/year from now I'll probably just buy two sticks of 4 GB DDR3, as I have a hybrid board. ![]() |

| One more thing, I'm led to believe that 4 sticks draw more power then 2 which puts a strain on the memory controller power circuity. 4 sticks will also give off more heat. | Hmm i have 2x1gb corsair xms2 sticks but i want that elusive 4gb i dont know if i should get the 4gb corsair kit 5-5-5-18 or another 2gb 4-4-4-12 as i only have £350 to spend on cpu/mobo/gpu/power [my budget came to £309 otherwise leaving £41 extras i.e. ram upgrade] Project Luxray Complete |

I've noticed differences when messing around with DDR RAM. Regardless, it isn't the case as of now, so 2x2GB is the way to go. | |
