The reason that I ask, is 3 or 4 years ago, I had a ti4200 128mb card, applied some of the ASC (just when it hit the market) and seen a 3 or 4 degree C drop in temps. I just wonder if the newer PCI-e cards will drop in temps as well.

Yes, i've seen quite impressive drops. Lapping the heatsink of 6600GT's and 6800 Ultra's I was able to notice sometimes up to a 10 degree drop. This 10 degree drop is really appreciated when you know 6800 Ultra AGP are on the border of artifacting when "stock". ![]()

| Silence..Or I kill you! | cool, thanks Polo, I was thinking of lapping the heat sink and applying ASC on my 7600GT, but just wanted to get someones opinion on temp drops with the PCI-e's I thought it would be worth it though. Will most likely do that soon! Thanks again Polo ![]() |

| T-Rex | Go ahead it's a great thing IMO. Lap safely though, you don't want to end with an angled surface. I recon it's not as hard as lapping a P3 Coppermine but it's still a "dangerous" task if you don't take your time. |

I usually start with 800, then go to 1000, and end with 1200. Seems to make it almost look like a mirror ![]() Last edited by stinger608; December 15th, 2006 at 05:03.
