I see that Tiger Direct still has the Q6600 with an XFX nForce 680i LT SLI NVIDIA Socket 775 mobo for $499 and free shipping through July 6. (New Egg wants almost $200 for that board.)

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.40GHz Socket 775 OEM Processor and a FREE XFX nForce 680i LT SLI NVIDIA Socket 775 ATX Motherboard at TigerDirect.com

Wow, that is a pretty sweet deal. Nice find! =)

And as a side note, the Q6600 is now priced at $475.00 - talk about extreme price flucuations over the past few days.

Yeah, Newegg's prices change from day to day all the time. I've seen this sort of thing before, but never hundreds of dollars for no reason!

Hmm, looks as if Newegg is changing prices by the hour. You really have to get lucky. Depends exactly when you click the "add to cart" button!!

I thought it would be interesting to point out that the Q6600 has now been further reduced in price to $279.99 dollars on Newegg. Just a couple more bucks and the price will settle exactly where Intel said the price cuts would be... almost two months later, that is. ;)

I started reading this thread from the beginning without first actually
paying attention to the date...scared the crap out of me. Was thinking something was wrong in the universe that the quads would spike back up to pre-price drop days...

Perfect timing for me on the further price reductions. Have two quad
purchases on 'stand by' for after we move into the new house.

Well, that's to be expected, IMO. Those things are never on time, with the experiences I've had.
