All you people with your S939s... I had a Slot 1 for six years! Oh, and a Socket 7 K6-2. And now a jump to LGA775, then outdated 6 months later!

If you have a good s939 system right now, I see no reason in the world to upgrade, unless you are a benchamrking whore......a six month/1 yr old dual core system is more than capable of handling most everything thrown at it....that might change this next year with Vista and DirectX 10, but for right now you are fine

INTEL QX9650 // Gigabyte EP45 Extreme // 8GB PC2-8500 // BFG GTX260 MaxCore // DD Torture Rack // Seagate 750GB HDD // OCZ Vendetta // PC Power & Cooling 620W PSU

The only thing that gets me mad about my Pentium D is encoding times (I do it wayyy to much). Hell, it's better than P4s, but I want a C2D!

suck it up guys, time to move on and give room for growth in AMD family...

S939, is a great platform, but as we all know Intel had the lead right now...

AMD wont be staying low, i know they will fight back with Intel's C2D... just wait and see...

I think I am gonna keep my 939 until I am forced to move up. benchmarks are not my concern just a smooth running computer is all I need. I have this thing running ok now and I am trying to learn how to o/c and I figure this is the proc to do it on. So to me s939 isn't dead just on life support.

Q:Does AMD still plan to support socket 939-pin package parts? If so, for how long?
A:As a customer-centric company, we plan to support the socket 939-pin package parts as long as customer demand warrants it.
