This mobo is a monstrosity.

What was Asus/AMD thinking.

It is a huge waste, and a very expensive one....the only real positive is it gives AMD fans their 4x4 right now, and allows them to use a dual processor system without the expensive registered memory

INTEL QX9650 // Gigabyte EP45 Extreme // 8GB PC2-8500 // BFG GTX260 MaxCore // DD Torture Rack // Seagate 750GB HDD // OCZ Vendetta // PC Power & Cooling 620W PSU

But if you plan to plunk down that much money for a server board and CPUs, you may as well go ahead and get the registered memory. I'd suspect you going to be using it for a high end server, and high end servers usually need that 16GB of registered memory

Yeah, this is a total waste of money, especially because it still got owned by C2D. Plus, you HAVE to buy two of everything (except a mobo). On a positive note, I've never seen an FX so cheap!

Actually, the FX's are suprisingly cheap (compared to what they used to be)...
FX-57 = $319
FX-60 = $460

Yeah, it hurts. :P
For the price of an FX-62 you can buy an E6700, so there's no point for anyone buying a new computer to go AMD.

It's just bad marketing by AMD, mostly made in a panic as a response over the C2D.
I just hope this isn't the start of the demise of AMD. Reminds me of another company that was on top of the world, then by a few bad moves crashed and burned, fast. 3Dfx, remember them?
