so a cpu never goes past 200 fsb? And whenever you get a more powerful cpu its just the multiplier that changes? Example 3000+ 200 x 9 = 1800 mhz while the 3200+ 200 x 10 = 2000 mhz?

would the intels also be the same?

In terms of stock manufacturer speeds, you are correct (at least for the AMD's). The ExtremeEdition Intel processors usually have a faster FSB...

Lets avoid the "****" word.
The whole point of this site is to make everyone feel welcome, and to give people just starting out a place to gain experience from.
What will hopefully seperate us from other sites is we cater to those with little or no experience...then once they build up confidence or knowledge, they can stick around and help others, or move on to sites like O/C Forums, Link Force Corner, and HardOCP

No, we only addressed the multiplier....on an AMD based processor you can scale the FSB/HTT from 200 to whatever your processor maxes out at....thats where things like memory dividers, HTT, voltages, etc come into play.
ThunDA from DFI Street is currently working on a super O/C Guide for HardwareLogic...
