You really can't go wrong with the Opty, especially with the crazy O/C that you can achieve.

the next time i get another computer. I'll get water cooling. Won't be for another while tohugh. LOL gotta find sum money first -_-.

Actually, i heard that Optys don't like the extremely low temperatures. down't know if this is actually true.

Yeah, the Opteron 165's are a great mid-range bang for your buck. They have the full cache Toledo core and great overclockability (if that is your thing). But like Capper said, a 3800 or a 165 are both great processors. Just remember that the 165 has a default clock speed of 1.8Ghz and therefor has a 9x multiplier while the 3800 clocks in at 2.0Ghz and has a 10x multiplier. But unless you plan on overclocking, that shouldn't really have a factor in the decision.

i dun know about you guys but i'd choose the 3800 over the opty 165

Yea, Im gonna give me hand to OC'n. And by the way, just bought the A8N32 SLI from Newegg-$215.00 shipped!!!!!-weekend sale, WOW! Going from the 64x 4200+ to the Opty, saved almost $200.00 and with the weelend sale, another $50.00.

isn't the opteron a server cpu. As in not really meant for daily normal useage?

The Opty is designed for extreme usage as in 24/7/365 workstation use.
