Well, if they are the same price, then the QX6850 would be the better choice. The clock speed is slightly faster on the E8500 and it is built on a smaller process that will produce less heat and consume less power than the QX6850, but the quad core architecture should make up for any performance differences. Just be aware that a high-end quad core processor like the QX6850 will definitely consume more power and pump out A LOT of heat so have a good heatsink ready for it.

She'll get a bit toasty with that cooler, but nothing to get alarmed over. 55-60C would be normal I'd think at load. She'll idle really well, and more so if EIST is left on, but it surprises some when all 4 cores wake up and start giving off that Prescott level heat.

That can be dealt with though. If you don't intend to muck around too hard with it, lower the vCore (1.1-ish?), enable EIST, and she'll sit primped and pretty for you. With that memory you have, I just don't think it'll take long before you start playing with it. It'll be interesting to have some feedback when you get it.

HAHAHAHA
Yeah, the Ultra 120 Extreme is indeed one of the best aircoolers around and should be up to the task of keeping a QX6850 cool enough, especially in a case with good ventilation like the Antec 900. To be honest, that's going to be one of the best air cooled setups you could ask for...

I think what Boy'nBlack was getting at was that even with top of the line air cooling, that processor is still going to run a little on the warm side (compared to the E8500 for example).

Just chiming in to say that 2,400.00 kronors is $400 US, not $350 :P
Got a friend over in Sweden. :) Are you buying from komplett?

If there is a final hour, let's hope for a higher power. One by one, and two by two, I have ammo, what about you?
