Those things are bleeding power, thats way too much. I bet they heat up like an old Pentium 4 at those levels. I'm not sure on this, but is Hi-k an Intel only fabrication process or could AMD pull it off as well?

AMD and Intel have a techology sharing agreement that goes back for decades,
Eventually AMD should be able to use Hi-K but not for a while.
Also something that make AMD look very silly is that fact that they are touting the Phenom as being so power friendly, but the 2.4s are as power greedy as any Intel Quad.

Bringing the right technology on the right market at the right time? LOL
More like failing to deliver anything worthy!
That article was a great laugh. :P

now now,
AMD is ramping up to make the leap to 45nm next year....
Um...... anyone know if they are not reailzing that 65nm is still broke?
In all what I am seeing is a return to the K62/3 marketing strategy.
This is the "we are not faster, we are more economical" line.
I have always liked AMD but think they are just plain lying to themselves right now about how to win in this market.
They HAVE to seed the press, they HAVE to put out a competative enthusiast product.
Nipping at the entry level buyers wallets are not going to get them out of the hole.
Only dropping another S939 bomb will...

The big problem is they're not cheaper, they're not faster and they're not more energy efficient. Why buy AMD? :/

The CPUs are not on their own, they are claiming that they are cheaper overall...
including Mainboard, GPU etc.
but people do not buy entire systems like that.
Too many people have complete systems already for that to be an option.

I frankly doubt they're cheaper overall, too :/

Lessons from the difficult birth of the Spider platform - The Tech Report

An excellent article....although a few of the commentors really miss the point......We need people to understand that as reviewers, this is not about getting free crap, or being the first to have something....its about having a chance to fairly evaluate a product before it hits the market, and getting people the information they need to make an educated buying decision.

To make it as simple as possible to understand, there are far too many review sites out there, and too many of them sell their integrity for free stuff, or will not point out flaws or company shortcomings for fear that they'll be "cut off".....we've been cut off by a few companies, but as I've told them, I'd rather have a simple blog, or give this up altogether than be a simple marketing tool.
