| They are basically promoting overclocking to get the performance crowd dollars but covering their own a$$ by not covering it under warranty. It's like buying a engine for your car, it's under warranty until you start enhancing it. |

| HL's Technomancer | Intel seems like your average case of Big Business. They got the money, the power, the influence, the goods..and when someone stops and says "Hey wait, this ain't right", they give you the equivalent of a kick in the nuts for having spent all that dough on one of their processors and send you on your way with a nice gift basket of "Go F--k Yourself". Now as long as you assume the position and stay a good lapdog, alls fine and dandy. Personally I'm glad you took a stand against them Rich for not backing up or giving support for one of their own products, even at the risk of having HL blacklisted in their future sample giveouts. ![]() |

| Yes, but lets be honest here, is a huge company like Intel really gonna listen to a small-ish review site like HL? I love the fact that your not eating what ever they give you Rich, but I think your pretty much on your own if you have an issue with one of Intel's products. Props to you Rich! | I'm Diggin it! | I'm tracking right there with ya on this. Having a staunch "We don't support overclocking, don't recommend it and even advise against it" shows just how far out of touch Intel is with the current crowd of people so pleased to purchase their very overclockable CPU's. Someone in the Intel channel realized they needed to get their architecture updated and dump netburst. That same person probably had something to do with the incredible overhead built into these CPU's. Where is that person and why isn't he/she the one in charge of customer satisfaction? Realistically, I can see Intel telling someone that the CPU is set to operate at 2.4GHZ and that FSB differences aside, it will operate at that given value. Got it. But I'm still more than a little put off at how unilaterally dismissed your valid concerns were. It wasn't too long ago that we were very impressed to get a 10% overclock out of a CPU. Now we can reasonably expect a 25-30% on a lot of CPU's from Intel. So why the hell the stingy attitude at the administrative/customer integration and service levels but yet the marketing guru's are playing with the toys and bragging about it? Intel, you're on a roll. But don't screw that progress up. We have long memories and dedications that shift with the performance results. You can't show us gold in one hand and pyrite in the other and expect to fool/impress us. Oh, and yes, I'm diggin it! | I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal. | What it boils down to is that Intel doesn't deem HL a big enough site to send review samples to, or help get us a processor that's sufficient for tweaking to the point where we can isolate other areas in our reviews. And that's fine, but it's their brass attitude in dealing with us that's frustrating. Our scheduled meeting at last year's CES was completely blown off, and as you all read in Rich's rant, they're just not going to throw us a bone. There's also a back story here that I won't get into details, but to summarize, Rich used to work for another review site before he started HL. When he left, the owner of the other site would (and still does) bad mouth HL to any company that will listen (acting like a scorned lover?), and Intel is one of those companies. That's also the reason why you don't see our news posted on [H]. Growing HL has been a tremendous uphill battle, but looking at us today, I'd like to think we've done it, and we're still on the up and up. |
