i hope for the sake of intel that your refering to an old price cut lol Are intels price cuts always on the 22nd or something?

silly q but if ddr2 667 ram comes at 333mhz stock u can increase that to 400mhz right? and in doing so am i overclocking or just rasing the standard?

I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal.

If you increase to 400, you're overclocking both the processor and the RAM. If your RAM can handle it, it'd be running at DDR2-800 speeds.

That's a 1:1 ratio, and today's boards are very good about running dividers, if your RAM can't handle the additional speed.

No, Computer-Ed just posted that for the sake of an interesting history lesson.

Yes, that would be called overclocking
As One4 mentioned, current chipsets and motherboards can run dividers just fine if it needs to be done. By increasing the FSB from 333MHz to 400MHz while keeping a 1:1 CPU:RAM ratio, both your RAM and processor will be running faster. If you wanted to increase the FSB to make the processor run faster without increasing the speed of the RAM, you would have to use a different divider other than 1:1.

HAHA, I'm sure they know, they are going to hold out as long as they can because no one wants to make the first move. When you're a business, lower prices doesn't usually mean higher profit.
Plus, you have to remember that the prices the news websites are quoting are prices per CPU as bought in lots of 1000. So the end consumer will end up paying more than that when buying individual processors from the retailers.

Also, don't the new 1333FSB CPU's come out today? I haven't seen any around.

1333MHz processors have technically been released already, but it looks like they aren't widely available yet. You can pre-order many of them at TankGuys and xPCGear while some others appear to be in stock at Directron.

Newegg is sold out of the Q6600 it appears. No real loss though, since they were of the B3 stepping variety...
