I agree.
The way I look at it, I buy the E6400, cost me $250.00shipped, overclock it under water, I'm almost guaranteed to get 2.66+(very conservative estimate), that puts the chip at a frequency of a $500.00 proc(E6600), and If I'm lucky, I can push 2.93ghz(XE freq). This is of course with custom WC. For air, I bet 20% OC will be do-able on these chips.

you can hit 5 ghz with a conroe. These chips overclock quite well.

You can hit 5Ghz with a P4 too...
I think it is a little early to be drawing these kinds of conclusions from leaked engineering samples and people with insane overclocking hardware....

good point. However, it doesn't change the fact that it can. :D

Yes it does! People see things like that and expect to be able to do it themselves... and when they can't, they are majorly disappointed.
there is a big difference between an ES processor and one someone gets from a retailer.....a very big difference.

Ditto.
They're not getting these speeds with just a CPU randomly selected from the batch.

These guys are hitting 4 & 5ghz with Liquid Nitrogen cooling, Phase changes on Engineer Sample chips. On air cooling, I wouldn't expect any more then 500mhz OC on average. A fellow I know hit around 3.5ghz on air with an E6800 Extreme Edition. That is a 570mhz OC.

Like I said earlier, someone hit 4Ghz on air, with one of the "non-extreme" chips
