I usually stick around that myself.. Even since I went water I wont go much over 1.6v depending on what the gains are..With my 3800 that little bit past 1.6v stabilized an extra 100mhz so it was kinda worth it for me..
Exactly. Every situation is gonna be different. I think that's why you always get so many people asking the question, "Is this too much Voltage?" or "Is my chip going to die?". There really is no clear cut line and it's prettymuch all opinion. Just depends mostly on the "quality" of the opinion and the person it is coming from, LOL

Now one thing you have to remember is that overclocking shortens the life of your components whether it be a little or alot, so even the smallest amount of overclocking cant be considered totally safe. Also in my opinion a64 cpu’s haven’t been around long enough to truly know what max voltage should be considered safe in a long run. So the voltages I suggest here are just to give you a basic idea of where most people like to stop when adding additional voltage.

all extremely good points. Its sad that some people just starting throwing unrealistic settings at their components....then blow a gasket at the manufacturer when it doesn't O/C as well as someone elses....or worse, dies on them.

Any one have a high/low temp chart for the x2s
I have the X2 3800+
I live in El Paso and it's allready starting to heat up.
In the room I'm in it's the hottest room in the house and it will be blazing during the summer. I can already see a big change in Proc temps.
Idle used to sit at 31 in the morning and 36 in afternoon now it's 36 in morning and 43 in afternoon at idle.
I hit 51 at load the other day in game but like I said it's not hot yet so I need to be prepared for summer.
Yea I could add a fan in top of case and maybe one in window but we will have to see.
I have the Arctic freezer pro64 on now.
Thanks..................

What do you mean by high/low temp chart? AMD specifies that the maximum operating temperature for most of the Athlon 64 procsesors is between 60ºC and 65ºC. Personally, I try and keep load temps at or below 50ºC to be on the safe side.

You can download and run this guy's AMD64 TCaseMax v1.18 and it will show you information like maximum temperature and max power draw of your particular chip. A pretty cool program actually, I recommend checking it out...

Thats a pretty cool program. Just downloaded it right now.

TCaseMax? Is that the max acceptable temperature?
and TDP is the power being drawn right?
