The 3800's are sweet cpu's.. I recently just sold my 3800 that ran 2600mhz with 1.5vcore and 2700mhz with 1.62vcore..

She is missed !!

But in the next week I'll have a Opty 170 0550UPMW to take her spot.. so she wont be missed for long.. ;)

lol, I can sense a bit of memory lapsing already, rofl

on that 3800+, were you using the Danger Den WC components, or something different? sounds like you were pumping some voltage to that chip, but a nice OC to go with, so I guess no one can complain about that :)

Yup, it was with my DD water cooling in sig.. The voltages were nothing crazy as you see in my post above.. at least I dont think they are crazy..hehe

I never tested it with air so im not sure what it would have been capable doing.

lol, considering the stock voltage is around 1.4v, and you had it up to 1.62v, that's like 116%, lol.....of course, that just moderately shortens CPU life, but with good cooling those settings appear fine......on air, to be safe, I don't think I'll be taking my chip above 1.45-1.5v......I'm safety-oriented, lol :P

btw, what part of NY you from? I'm from Long Island, in the Bellmore/Wantagh area......I've just been down here by force for most of my life (long story, lol), but plan on moving back up there for retirement maybe, but that's around 45 years away, roflmao

Oh geez.. im writting a oc guide for this forum and maybe I need to rethink my recommended voltages..lol.. Or maybe your just too safe..hehe

lol, yeah I admit, I'm wayyyy too conservative with my OC's, but hey, it's all good, I just do that so I have something that's 24/7 stable and to prolong the chip's life, so yeah lol.

lucky you, you're from Upstate NY......beautiful out in the country up there, all sorts of stuff to do and antiquated things to look at......I drove up through the Catskills on my way to Mystic, CT......nice countryside, really puts parts of the south to shame IMO.......whereabouts in Wantagh do you have relatives? As I was saying earlier, my grandmother, one of my aunts, and my biological father is from the Bellmore area, and I have an uncle in West Islip.........man I miss the north, lol, nice cold winters (bet you're still bailing yourself out of the white stuff, lol).

This is kindof a different opinion for everyone. Personally, I don't like to go much over the high 1.5xx volt range with air cooling. Even on water, I don't think I would go much over 1.6v. For 24/7 long-term use, I would prefer to be at 1.55v or below.

Hey thats cool.. When it comes to voltage its really a matter of what you personally feel comfortable with.. I usually upgrade so often that things dont stay in my system for more then a few months .. ;)

Im not upstate ny.. I live in suffolk county which is on eastern long island.. close to the hamptons if you know where that is.. ?

I usually stick around that myself.. Even since I went water I wont go much over 1.6v depending on what the gains are..With my 3800 that little bit past 1.6v stabilized an extra 100mhz so it was kinda worth it for me..
