| Colonel Calamity | if you had the choice, get the lower wattage version, that is the ONLY real difference. As long as it is the low draw AM2 socket and the Brisbane core then you should be good to go. Brisbane is 65nm and Windsor is 90nm ![]() Thanks HL and Corsair! My opinions are my own and not representative of this site or its members. Last edited by screwballl; April 4th, 2007 at 08:10. |

| Modder-ator | As Screwballl mentioned, the Brisbane is made on a 65nm process while Windsor is a 90nm part. The 65nm chips should use slightly less power and run a little cooler, but they will perform nearly identical. Infact, the 90nm Windsor may outperform 65nm Brisbane chips by a hair in some cases (see review part one and part two for more info), but that is really only because the latency of the L2 cache on the Brisbane chips was tweaked slightly slower for whatever reason. |

| In addition to what Blake said, keep in mind that since the 65nm processor runs cooler, it has a tendency to be a better overclocker for those of us who use air cooling. |

| I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal. | I just built a rig for a family member using the 65W 3800+ X2 and it ran uber cool. Was neat to feel cold air being exhausted out the top blow hole in the case. ![]() |

| Functional Alcoholic | Doesn't that always happen? Hell my PSU blows cool air. Maybe thats because I have the back of my rig facing an open window. |

| I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal. | No, I generally feel warm air being exerted on rigs with a top blow hole, unless the PC as a whole sports exceptional airflow overall. The 3800+ X2 machine in question was built in a Wave Master with no side blow hole. When I originally got the case, it housed an FX-53 system, and I most definitely felt warm air from the top (though the supplementary components were more high end than what went into this build). |
