Not only that, but Quad core rigs would really benefit from reverse Hyper-threading, which is something AMD and Intel seem to be working on from rumors.

Reverse Hyper-Threading will make four cores look like one to single threaded programs. Or four cores look like two to a program optimized for dual core.

Interesting times are on the horizon, that's for sure.
i believe there was some article about how reverse hyper threading doesn't work and that they aren't developing it.

Yeah, its do to the nature of out of order execution most likely. If the instructions were split up between the cores, there is not guarantee they would exit all the cores in proper order.

Could someone please provide a link? This thread is useless without one. I found nothing about it on Google.

I only got told by a friend about it. He didn't provide me with a link, and I'm not going to go hunt for one.

MY LIFE IS A LIE!!!!!!!!

Heh, 80 cores sounds better than 8,000 to be honest. 80 just seems more efficient than 8,000, since there is no way in hell you'd use more than 80, even on a supercomputer, and the cores won't be shrunk near as much.
