| I read that the "black edition" CPU has an unlocked multiplier. w00t. |

| HL's Technomancer | If the multiplier is indeed unlocked, I'd love to get my hands on one. Unlocked chips are normally $500+, and I've never had that kind of cash to play around with one. Seems half and half though, some are claiming it's unlocked, others saying the multiplier won't go higher then it's stock x16. I can't really find a straight answer, might call up or email AMD to see for sure. $280 is still steep though, especially with a power usage of 125 watts, don't see how you can get it much higher without water cooling or better. |

| Yeah, seems AMD is getting desperate, offering an unlocked chip for under $500. Maybe it's time to get Phenom out the door, AMD. Instead of making old technology look pretty in good-looking boxes. My 2 cents. EDIT: Seems Newegg has raised the price to $300: Newegg.com - AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ 3.2GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Processor - Retail EDIT 2: If you want unlocked multiplier for cheap, look at this: Newegg.com - AMD Athlon 64 FX-62 Windsor 2.8GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Processor - OEM Unlocked for $170!
