| HL's Technomancer | Barcelona is the codename for the quadcore Opteron server processors, which if I remember right are going to be Socket F. The desktop version, or the Phenom line, is going to be Agena. They're pretty much the same, same as with the current Opteron and X2's, except Barcelona will be released sooner, cost more, and be more designed for a higher stress enviroment Tech ARP - AMD Phenom Processor (Barcelona) Pre-Launch Update More Phenom Goodness nVidia is excepted to roll out with G90 sometime in December as it did with G80 this past year. Either before or during that time AMD is supposed to bring out R650, or 2950XT on the 65nm process. R700 is supposed to follow at a later date. |

I do hope the HD 2950 XT is a success. I also remember reading about AMD releasing a card to fill the 29xx XT and 2600 XT gap. Like a 1950PRO for the R600. | |||

| There Well Be No G90 I like to see some number on Barcelona Next 2 Week We All Should See How Fast is it now about 9800 GTX.By Q4 2007 (Xmas) NVIDIA will be releasing their GeForce 9800 series GPUs. Unlike previously expected the codename for nVidia's next generation GPU will NOT be "G90" but instead be "G92". I have some info form NVIDIA insider about the upcoming G92 graphics processors. G92 will be released in November 2007 timeframe in the form of "GeForce 9800" series. "G92" GeForce 9800 GTX specs. - 65nm process technology at TSMC. - Over one billion transistors. - Second Generation Unified Shader Architecture. - Double precsion support (FP64). - GPGPU native. - Over one TeraFLOPS of shader processing power. - MADD+ADD configuration for the shader untis (2+1 FLOPS=3 FLOPS per ALU) - Fully Scalar design. - 512-bit memory interface. - 1024MB GDDR4 graphics memory. - DirectX 10.1 support. - OpenGL 3.0 Support. - eDRAM die for "FREE 4xAA". - built in Audio Chip. - built in tesselation unit (in the graphics core" - Improved AA and AF quality levels Pros. 65nm process will allow for better yields and better power consumption. power consumption will be lower than that of a GeForce 8800 GTX. GeForce 9800 GTX will be over two times faster than a GeForce 8800 Ultra in real world games and applcations. Release date : November 2007. There will be TWO products at launch: The flagship GeForce 9800 GTX and the second fastest GeForce 9800 GTS. price for the GeForce 9800 GTX will be 549-649 USD. price for the GeForce 9800 GTS will be 399-449 USD |

| HL's Technomancer | nVidia has confirmed nothing so far, but things seem to indicate a point to 9800 (bah core names). We had a 7900 GTX, but we also only had a 6800 Ultra. Then again who says they're going to use these marketing names again? I'm personally thinking nVidia will change the moniker to Geforce *something else*, because a 9000 series already exists in the GPU world. EDIT: Oh yeah, Barcelona is only the core name for the quadcore Opterons. Agena will be for both quad Phenom and Phenom FX lines, while Kuma is the dual core variant. | Xtremeoverclocking, you really need to get into a habit of giving your sources. Manic Mouse mentioned on 3GM that written material is copyrighted. Posting articles without a source is plagiarism and can mean legal issues for HardwareLogic, 3DGameMan, and other forums you post on. Not to mention without a source information is rather useless as it needs credibility. For all we know, a 8 year old posted that on his blog. Stormcrow, good point. ATI does have a 9000 series. Think people would get the two series confused though? Although it seems all of nVidia's cards follow the same naming system. Think they might add a letter in front of the 9xxx? |
